VENICE / ITALY
You will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. Welcome reception with your Tour Director and traveling companions.
2. day
VENICE / ITALY
We begin our exploration of Venice at St. Mark’s Square with a walking tour which includes all the major sights. The balance of the day is at leisure. Optional tour: Gon dola serenade. Optional tour: Pub crawl “Venetian style” (B)
3. day
FLORENCE / ITALY
We drive to Ferrara, a Renaissance gem in the Emilia-Romagna region. After our orientation tour of Ferrara, we continue to Pisa where we view the famous Leaning Tower, Baptistery, and Duomo. Then on to Florence for a free evening. (B)
4. day
FLORENCE / ITALY
Our morning city tour begins at the majestic Piazza del Duomo to see the Cathedral, Giotto’s Bell Tower, and the Baptistery. Then, we visit the Academy of Fine Arts. The tour ends at the Piazzale Michelangelo. The remainder of the day is free. Optional tour: Visit to San Gimignano with wine tasting. (B)
5. day
ROME / ITALY
We travel through the stunning panorama of Tuscany on our way to Assisi. Here, we will take a walking tour to see the main square and visit the impressive Basilica of St. Francis. Later, we continue to Rome for an evening at leisure. (B)
6. day
ROME / ITALY
This morning, we visit the Colosseum and other major sights of the city. In the after noon we have time at leisure for more discoveries and activities on your own. Optional tour: Visit of the Grand Piazzas & food tour. (B)
7. day
ROME / ITALY
Today we will visit the Vatican Museums. We see the works of Raphael & Michel angelo. We continue to St. Peter’s Square. In the evening, there is a farewell dinner with your fellow travelers and your travel director. (B,D)
8. day
SORRENTO / ITALY
We say goodbye to Rome and travel to Pompeii, a town caught off guard by a volca nic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. Our journey continues to Sorrento where dinner is served at our hotel, followed by a free evening. (B,D)
9. day
SORRENTO / ITALY
Glide by ferry across the bay to the Isle ofCapri. Here, we visit the magnific- ent Gardens of Caesar Augustus. Later, wander through the winding streets before we return to Sorrento. (B)
10. day
SORRENTO / ITALY
We have a full day of free time to take in the sights of Sorrento. Tonight, gather with your fellow travelers and your tour director for our farewell dinner. Optional tour: Amalfi coast with limoncello tasting. (B,D)
11. day
Departure
After breakfast, you’ll head to the airport in Naples for your departure flight. You can also join one of many other Kompas tours or Adriatic Cruises. (B)
